SUMMARY OF EXODUS 13:17- 17:16
The fourth section of the Book of Exodus begins as Pharaoh “sent forth” (Beshalach, in Hebrew) from Egypt.
The Jews proceed toward Mount Sinai to receive the Torah, but are pursued by Pharaoh and the Egyptian army. G‑d splits the Sea of Reeds, allowing the Jews to pass to safety and then drowning the Egyptians in it.
The Jews then continue on toward Mount Sinai, with G‑d miraculously providing them with food (manna) and water from a rock.
Just as they approach their destination, the Jews are attacked by the nation of Amalek.
