Summary of Torah Verse - Genesis 22:4-5

4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

5 And Abraham said unto his young men: ‘Abide ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will go yonder; and we will worship, and come back to you.’

Genesis 22 (Bereshit) is the narrative about Abraham and Isaac’s greatest test. Abraham is instructed to sacrifice his son Isaac. He obeys and travels to Mt Moriah. With Isaac he hikes the mount, builds an altar, prepares the wood, binds Isaac and is prepared to slit his throat.

A voice from heaven calls out and tells him to stop. Looking up he sees a ram and sacrifices it. Abraham returns to the two men at the base of the mountain. Together they return to Beer-sheva. We are introduced to Rebecka.
